“I graduated PC in 2018 after studying biology and sociology. While at PC, my sociology courses were my favorite, and shaped how I look at and move through the world. Following my time at PC, I became a licensed clinical social worker, and worked in addiction treatment care for the last several years in Hartford CT. I just recently moved back to Providence to start Physician Assistant school, where I am hoping to increase my scope of practice to better help patients. Starting at PC, I met wonderful faculty (shout out to Prof. Eve Veliz-Moran) who were engaged with local organizing and also policy analysis that started my passion for this work. In social work school and professionally I have been fortunate to meet other mentors, who have shown me how to be a humanistic provider. I have been personally affected by addiction and housing insecurity, so getting to provide care for this population and work on reforms at the community level feels like a dream and vocation. I am so grateful for the foundation this department provided me, and I encourage students to take every opportunity you can to learn from faculty and especially your peers. Best of luck!”
