Abigail Segal ’23
“I graduated in 2023 and got a job with Family Service of Rhode Island as a case manager. My full title is CPST Specialist for our new Healthy Transitions program, a community and home-based program for youth and young adults with high-acuity needs and mental health symptoms with an emphasis on First Episode Psychosis. I help clients identify their strengths and goals, and help them access the services, care, and practices they need to reach their goals. I have not yet gone back to grad school as I decided it would be best for me to gain experience in what I think I am interested in first. I am still thinking along the lines of clinical social work, a role that I think routinely uses sociology, as it looks at mental health as not only biological but also environmental.
My time as a sociology major meant a lot to me and I think about my professors often and with immense fondness and gratitude. I could not have gotten through my time at PC without the compassion shown to me by each of them, not to mention the amount of intelligence and wit that every soc professor seems to have.”
