A Trip to Tijuana
In April, the GST 371: Globalization, Borders, and Human Rights course had the opportunity to travel and work alongside Esperanza International in Tijuana, Mexico. The course spent five days on the work sites aiding in the construction projects with the community and families in the area. Before visiting Tijuana, the group spent a little bit of time exploring San Diego, including Chicano Park. While on the ground in Mexico, the course not only helped with construction of new homes, but visited the border wall, where they connected with the families’ on their experiences, hopes, and dreams.
A special thank you to Dr. Kara Cebulko, Daleth Rodriguez, Cristina Roca (PC Alum), Maddie Harris, Esperanza’s Team on the ground: Eduardo, Lorenzo & Roberto, and of course all of the wonderful students, and various departments that supported the trip.
